This concept design studies the redevelopment of the a city block along the east edge of Moore Square in downtown Raleigh, NC. The proposal includes a wide mix of uses, including both market rate and affordable housing, a hotel, a grocer, and a mission serving the homeless and disadvantaged. Larger scaled components are grouped along the park as a backdrop to the large public space, while smaller scaled buildings help transition to the mid- and low-rise neighborhood to the east. The block is divided by new alleys for traffic circulation and service functions, fostering vibrant and pedestrian-friendly streetscapes around the perimeter of the site.
