Located at the northern end of Meridian Hill Park, this concept design entailed the renovation of an early modernist apartment building from the 1940's that was deemed historic by DC's Historic Preservation Review Board. Two separate development and design alternatives were conceived for this site: an adaptive reuse of the existing building as luxury rental apartments; and a demolition of the existing structure, replaced by a contemporary residential building design compatible with the neighborhood and the park itself. In both cases, east and west wings of the building would flank a central courtyard facing the park, offering sweeping views of the city below.
